Jock Serong grew up in the suburbs of Melbourne. As a student and a young lawyer, he volunteered with the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service.
After moving back to Western Victoria where the land and landscape inspired him, Jock published and edited the ‘Great Ocean Quarterly’ and written five outstanding novels: ‘Quota’, ‘The Rules of Backyard Cricket’, ‘On the Java Ridge’, ‘Preservation’ and ‘The Burning Island’. He splits his time between Port Fairy and Flinders Island in Bass Strait.
